A 'horrified' couple who took their beloved dog for a routine wash and trim could barely recognise him after he was shaved 'naked' all over.
Louise Thompson had dropped her two Samoyeds, Dash and Neytiri - who she owns with her husband David - at Happy Dog Groomers in Rawtenstall, Lancashire, on April 8 expecting them to receive their usual wash and trim.
But later that morning she said she received a voicemail from the grooming parlour, which the Thompsons have used for the last three years, saying that five-year-old Dash's fur was matted and needed to be 'shaved short'.
Will shaving my head cause my hair to grow back thicker? I just shaved my head, and the scalp is really pale compared to the rest of my skin. Nothing serious, but it’s an indication that you should take it easier next time.

Several razors as well as other personal hygiene artifacts were recovered from Bronze Age burials in northern Europe and are believed to belong to high status individuals.
The Roman historian Livy reported that the razor was introduced in ancient Rome in the 6th century BC. Priscus was ahead of his time because razors did not come to general use until a century later.
Beautician Louise, who runs 'Face by Louise' at Blemish Clinic in nearby Edenfield added: 'I understand Dash can be hard to brush as he's a big softy and cries whilst he's being brushed but that's just Dash.'At the very least, I should have been fully consulted and had all the potential implications explained to me and certainly made aware that his coat may never grow back properly and he would need keeping out of the sun or lotion applied.'Louise and David received a refund from the grooming parlour, but say this does not cover the cost of a coat and special sun lotion to protect him out of doors.
David, 42, added: 'Dash seems in shock, he's very timid. With the summer approaching it's going to be really difficult for him to go for walks.'It's upsetting to see him like that, he's lost a lot of confidence and he's half the size he was before.'But Richard Coop, owner of Happy Dogs, says that he informed the owners he would have to shave Dash due to the level of matting in his coat.
